To blog or not to blog, that has been the question for me for the last few months. Starting a blog was personal, I wanted a place where I could focus on the things I love and an outlet that would allow me to share them with others. I started lavender & eve with little knowledge of what I was doing but figured I’d learn as I go. I feel no shame in saying that I am still learning every day, but this entire project almost came to a screeching halt.
There are more sources on creating, maintaining and beautifying blogs than I could ever name and all the ones that I studied say to make sure your blog has a niche. Guess what, lavender & eve does not have a niche and this has often made me feel as if I was doing something wrong. I’m passionate about many things, I love to cook (I went to culinary school); I love to sew (I majored in tailoring in high school); I love to read, watch television, laugh, drink champagne, play with my dogs (I really love dogs) and laugh with my friends. I love essential oils; I REALLY LOVE LAVENDER. I love all of these things so I guess my niche could be talking about things that we love, it’s the best I can do for now.
Thanks to twitter, I’ve been lucky enough to connect with some great people like Jasmine at Color U Bold and my buddy across the pond, Geri at Pink Cobwebs; they’ve both been extremely giving of their time and I LOVE THEIR BLOGS. These lovely ladies took the time to answer my questions, provide great suggestions and much-needed encouragement to keep lavender & eve going and I’m going to do just that.
It’s true, lavender & eve does not have a niche but in defense of that, I am not a one-dimensional person and my blog may not follow traditional rules so forgive me as I continue in that order.
